The Osage Beach Fire Protection District expects to implement a new dock inspection requirement this summer after an open forum Tuesday to gauge the public's input.
The proposed addition tightens regulations by requiring that a residential dock be inspected and brought into compliance with OBFPD regulations upon transfer of ownership due to the sale of real estate. This must be done before Ameren Missouri issues a new dock permit under the new owner's name.
The inspection confirming the dock is in compliance would be good for one year. This new requirement would not be enforced on multi-well docks that are tied to an association with multiple slip owners in the same structure.
Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer said about a dozen people showed up for the 4 p.m. meeting at the fire station on Bluff Road. Most of those attending were Realtors. A representative of the Bagnell Dam Board of Realtors set the tone of the meeting by expressing support for the proposal. She urged the OBFPD board to adopt the new rule and to keep Realtors informed of other changes.
Another individual commented to Ameren Missouri representatives about issues other than the inspection program.
The proposal will be on the agenda of the next regular meeting of the OBFPD board, which is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Fire Station 1 on Bluff Road. If approved, the regulation would is expected to become effective Aug. 1, Dorhauer explained.
