A 67-year-old Camdenton man faces felony charges of sodomy and sexual abuse allegedly involving an underage employee of his business.
According to Camden County Circuit Court documents, Dennis (Denny) Lee Purdy, owner of the Dairy Queen on N. Business Route 5, has been charged with forcible sodomy, statutory sodomy in the second degree and sexual abuse relating to an alleged incident June 4 in the basement of the business.
The probable cause statement filed by Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Keedy alleges that Purdy told the victim to go to the basement where she sometimes gets supplies, and that the victim thought nothing of the request. It was while she was in the basement that the alleged incidents occurred.
The probable cause statement alleges that Purdy pushed the victim against a basement wall and held her by the back of her neck with one hand. With his other hand, he allegedly touched her genitals from behind under her clothing against her wishes.
Purdy later told Keedy that the physical contact with the victim was consensual. He admitted to kissing her on the neck, biting her on the shoulder and touching her crotch area on the outside of her clothing.
He denied touching her under her clothes, but admits being in the basement alone with her.
The statement says the girl attempted to leave and he turned her around, pushed her against the wall and shoved her head into the wall. She alleges Purdy shoved her by the back of the neck and touched her genitals on top of the clothes. She later alleged to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) investigators at Kids' Harbor that Purdy had touched her genitals under her clothing.
She told investigators she was crying and that Purdy told her to go into the bathroom to fix her hair and then return upstairs. He then returned upstairs.
The victim told investigators Purdy regularly grabs and touches her rear and tells her she has a nice body.
If convicted of forcible sodomy, Purdy could be imprisoned for life or not less than five years. The range of punishment for the statutory sodomy and sexual abuse charges are: not less than two years nor more than seven in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections; or imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one year in the county jail or other authorized institution; or by a fine not to exceed $5,000, or both.
Purdy's bond was set at $5,000 cash and $15,000 surety bond.
