This weekend I drove around the city of Camdenton for the city-wide garage sales.
I attended two garage sales on Clint Ave. I was truly shocked at the condition of that road.
It looked like it was being swallowed by mini sinkholes.
I made comments to the residents and they explained that this was the "John Williams" fiasco.
These were nice people who bought nice houses. At least $100,000 plus and I can honestly say that if I were looking to buy a house on that street the road would have made a difference.
It appears that these people are the true victims. Mr. Williams has not fixed the road and they do not have the "extra funds" to do it themselves.
Most of the people I talked were kids just starting their families. It would seem to me that the city could fix the road and pursue Mr. Williams for the cost.
I realize budgets are tight and there is not a lot of extra money but in the same instances if one family needed to sell their home, the road would make the choice of how much they could ask.
If they are carrying mortgages it would probably be almost impossible, unless they only sold to A) someone who was blind and, B) the person driving them to the house was mute.
It is a shame that driving around Camdenton I come across a portion of Camdenton where the houses are well maintained and the road is barely passable.
