Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 of Laurie and the Missouri Department of Conservation-Camdenton Office will host a free Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, June 8 at the Gravois Mills Access located off Hwy. 5 in Gravois Mills.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and fishing at 9. Lunch, complements of Woods Supermarket, will be provided at noon for all contestants and accompanying adults with trophies and prizes awarded at the conclusion of the derby.
All boys and girls ages 6-16 are eligible. There is no entry fee, but an entry form must be completed for each contestant and must be signed by a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must accompany contestants during the derby.
Trophies will be awarded for: Most fish caught, largest fish caught and casting competition winners.
All Missouri Department of Conservation rules and regulations will be observed. Fish presented for weigh-in must be caught by the participant at or adjacent to the Gravois Mills Public Access area or from a boat provided by the Elks. Fishing from other boats is not allowed.
Each child is responsible for bringing their own fishing equipment (rod, reel and line) and a life vest for boaters.
Thanks to Bryant's Osage Outdoors, bait, hooks, sinkers and bobbers will be provided. Bring your own chair or blanket for sitting.
Entry forms are available at Bryant's Osage Outdoors and Laurie Bait & Tackle, both in Laurie. They will also be available and accepted the morning of the derby.
