  • A 19-year-old female of Lake Ozark was safe and sound at home while dive teams spent hours scouring an area on the Gravois Arm looking for her after she allegedly jumped from a boat to flee the scene of an altercation with fellow passengers.
The female was reported as a possible drowning victim at 3 a.m. on Wednesday near Coconuts Bar and Grill in Morgan County.
According to the Missouri Water Patrol, the woman was involved in what was described as a minor altercation with other females on board when she leapt overboard. The last time the woman was seen she was swimming toward the shore. It appears that someone lost sight of her and reported the incident to authorities.
She was about 100 yards from the nearest dock when she jumped. The woman apparently made it to safety on land and found a way home.
In the meantime, Missouri Highway Patrol water patrol division, Morgan County Sheriff's Department, Gravois Fire, Rocky Mount Fire, Highway Patrol Dive team and Mid County Dive team all responded to the scene. Divers spent several hours searching the area where she was last seen before finding out the woman was at home.
The search was called off around 6 a.m. when the female was located.
Charges could be filed against the 19-year-old involved in this case. Her name and charges are being withheld from the public until official charges are made.
