Speaker Tim Jones spoke to a group of citizens in Osage Beach regarding the accomplishments of the 2013 legislative session and the priorities for the next legislative session, highlighting the importance of getting Missouri's economy back on track through fiscal responsibility and common sense, pro-development policies.
"During the 2013 legislative session, we took several big steps for Missouri, passing bills to cut taxes for the first time in decades, increase funding for education, and restore the protections of workers' compensation and the Second Injury Fund. However, I know our work is not done. We still need to make fundamental reforms to ensure our budget remains on solid ground. We also need to adopt transformative policies to allow Missouri to compete for the family-supporting jobs of the future. This will be my top priority in 2014," said Jones.
Jones was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2006 and was unanimously elected as Speaker in September 2012. Speaker Jones serves as the State Representative for the 110th District, which includes portions of Franklin and St. Louis Counties. Jones is an attorney at the Chesterfield law firm of Doster Ullom LLP and currently resides in Eureka with his wife, Suzanne, and two daughters.
