Served in the U.S. Air Force

Clifford Lester Kennon, age 91, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at Columbia Healthcare Center.  He was born February 18, 1922, in Rover, Arkansas, a son of the late Lester and Ona McCarty Kennon. 

On December 31, 1943, in Seneca, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Norma L. Rucker, who survives the home.

 He was a United States Air Force veteran having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Clifford was a pilot for American Airlines for over 30 years until his retirement.

 He was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and farming.

 In addition to his wife, Norma, he is survived by his son, William Kennon and wife Maureen of Florida; daughters, Susan Brancamp and husband Vern of Gravois Mills and Diana Brady and husband Larry of Columbia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kennon and a sister, Freddie Lee Trosclair.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 31st, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with Reverend Gary Hagan officiating.  Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held in the Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30th, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Central Missouri Honor Flight, 1400 Forum Blvd. Ste. 38, Columbia, Missouri 65203.  Expressions of sympathy may be left online at  Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
