  • Lake view: Implications of IRS scandal

  • With the IRS issues at its peak, the average American person should be aware as to what is said and who did what. This is our only taxing authority at the federal level and the IRS as of right now will be heavily involved in the Obamacare implementation.
This scandal does impact every American not just conservative or tea party groups. The information that the IRS derives from a simple 1040 is massive.
People need to understand that even your political affiliation is known to the IRS.  They know if you are married, how many children you have, the amount of money you claim to make, the amount that you are contributing to your retirement and they can make an educated guess of your party affiliation by the one question on the 1040 that most people don't pay attention to. The question is: Would you want $3 to be allocated to the Presidential Election Campaign?
If you are a person who keeps track and lets say you were a Republican this last tax season you might say no. The reason is you don't want to fund the party in office to elect the next president. The money is used by the current administration which in this next election will be the Democratic party. But if it is a Republican I might say yes.  It is clear that certain people have solicited the IRS to make the process for a 501c3 harder for certain political groups. This administration is at fault.
The second thing we all need to be aware of: Congress is the IRS's "boss." They answer to congress, and they take orders from congress.  The IRS is filled with civil servants not politicians. They are working for IRS for the same reason we work, a paycheck, health insurance and the retirement package. They are not easily swayed to give that up to go on a manhunt to target political groups.
We will find that certain members of congress asked this of the IRS and we will find that IRS complied.
What is truly scary is IRS is crucial in the implementation of Obamacare.
If they were swayed by members of congress to go on this witch hunt over party affiliation can we be assured that they will "not " be swayed in the implementation of Obamacare to the taxpayers. Can we be assured of fair and ethical treatment?  Can we be assured of the information we put in a 1040 won't be used against us? President Obama assures us that he will put procedures in place so this does not happen again. There were already procedures in place so this would not happen and can we have assurance that he will do this when he goes on national television and says he knew nothing about this? There is a bill that is being presented and Americans need to look at it. It would take IRS out of the implementation of Obamacare.  HR 1990 would prohibit IRS from implementing Obamacare and it would  take the threat of  special interest within congress away and we can be assured that our party affiliation would not be used against us. The question we should seriously be asking ourselves after this recent scandal, can we trust IRS to implement Obamacare in a fair and ethical manner?  I am afraid the answer has already been shown.
