  • Friday night out: Restored theater features classic westerns and comedies

  • Located at 308 W. 2nd St. in downtown Stover, the restored Osage Theater shows classic movies at an affordable price. A ribbon cutting event May 24 is open to the public.

  • The Versailles Area Chamber of Commerce is welcoming Osage Theater with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, May 24. The theater, located in at 308 W. 2nd St. in downtown Stover, has been restored to its look from the early 20th century and shows classic movies.
    Showing during the ribbon cutting event will be Zorro's Fighting Legions Ch. 5, Lone Ranger "War Horse" and The Trail Beyond, a 1934 film starring John Wayne and Noah Beery Sr.
    Admission is $2. Soda, popcorn and more will be available at the concession stand. The event is open to the public.
    Seating 75 people, the theater is open on Friday and Saturday night for movies showing at 7 p.m. Friday nights feature Sagebrush Saga Westerns and on Saturdays, comedies.
    Ma & Pa Kettle on Vacation will show on Saturday, May 25. Zorro's Fighting Legions Ch. 6, Sgt. Preston of the Yukon and King of the Cowboys starring Roy Rogers and Smiley Burnette will show Friday, May 31. The Shirley Temple movie Bright Eyes will show Saturday, June 1.
