Owned Bachtel Builders at the lake

Robert Merlin Bachtel, age 71, of Montreal Missouri, departed this life on Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Robert was born December 10, 1941 in Kansas City Missouri, the son of Paul & Eulatia Bachtel. He was preceded in death by is father. He graduated from St. Pius High School and Finley Engineering College in Kansas City. He went to work for Wheeling Corrugating Company a Division of Wheeling-Pittsburg Steel Corporation in sales. After retiring he moved from Freeholt, New Jersey to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was known in the Lake area as a dedicated General Contractor until he closed Bachtel Builders in 2008.

In his spare time, back in the day he was a Sheriff’s Department Reserve for 10 years. He was also a life time member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed working, spending time with his family and friends and was always looking for the humor in life. Bob loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends. His favorite things were his pocket knives, blue jeans, boots and his work truck, and he considered everyone he passed to be a friend.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Bachtel; his mother Eulatia and her husband Paul Butler, Springfield, Missouri; Sons and wives Mitch & Sarah Bachtel, St. Louis, Missouri, and Rodney & Janet Bachtel, Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Victoria, Macedonia Ohio, and Nicole, Matthew and Christopher Bachtel, Camdenton and two great-grandchildren, Heather & Alexis of Camdenton, Missouri; Brothers, Ronnie Bachtel, Kansas City, Missouri and Dennis & Lou Bachtel, Pleasanton, California; along with many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Roach Cemetery in Roach, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Camdenton Lion’s Club.
