The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a joint application filed by Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri (Ameren Missouri) and Laclede Electric Cooperative (Laclede) which sought Commission approval of an addendum to a previously approved territorial agreement.
The applicants proposed amending their existing territorial agreement to allow a single residential structure located at 864 Lowell Williams Road in Linn Creek, Mo., to receive electric service from Ameren Missouri even though the structure is located within Laclede's exclusive service area.
On April 12, 2013, the Public Service Commission Staff recommended the joint application be approved. Staff stated the addendum to the territorial agreement is not detrimental to the public interest and should be approved.
The Commission noted in its order that the owners of the property at 864 Lowell Williams Road stated their desire and consent for Ameren Missouri to be the electric provider to their property. In addition, the Commission said that although the property lies within Laclede Electric's exclusive service area, Ameren Missouri's facilities are much closer to the property and having Ameren Missouri provide electric service to the property would result in the most efficient use of electrical facilities available in that area of Camden County.
"Based on the information contained in the joint application and on the recommendation of Staff, the Commission finds that the proposed Addendum is not detrimental to the public interest," the Commission said.
