Camdenton R-III School District will be welcoming a new Director of Interventions next school year. Lorri Travis will be taking over the position most recently held by Kristy Kindwall on July 1.
Travis is coming to the Camdenton R-III District after serving the students and staff of Eastwood Hills Elementary and Southwood Elementary Schools in the Raytown School District as Special Education Coordinator. She began her position as coordinator in August 2012.
Prior to this, Travis served the Camdenton R-III District as a Process Coordinator at Dogwood Elementary during the 2011-2012 school year and as a life skills teacher in the Department of Interventions at Hawthorn Elementary during the 2010-2011 school year. Travis has also served the Lebanon School District as a life skills teacher from 2007 to 2010 and as a paraprofessional in the Lebanon District from 2005 until 2007.
Travis holds an Associate’s degree from Drury University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She has also completed graduate work at William Woods University where she has earned a Master’s and a Specialist’s degree in administration.
According to Superintendent Tim Hadfield, Travis was interviewed by a team which consisted of representatives from the Interventions Department, building administration, members of the central office leadership team and a representative from the School Board. Travis surfaced as someone who can lead the Department of Interventions and meet the challenges of the future.
