The St. Louis Cardinals traveled light to Chicago leaving their bats behind in Milwaukee. The Cardinals who beat up on a very good Brewers team were only able to score one run against a very bad Cubs team. The two teams are tied in the second inning as of this writing. The Cardinals have another day off tomorrow before coming home to begin a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies who have been one of the surprise teams in baseball this year.
The Kansas City Royals lost a tough extra innings game to the Chicago White Sox on Monday afternoon before losing at Baltimore to the Orioles last night. They continue their series tonight.
After combining to score seven goals total in the first three games of their series the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings combined to score seven goals in one game on Monday night as the Blues lost a tough one to the Kings 4 to 3. The series is now all knotted up at 3 with game 5 tonight in St. Louis. This has been a very hard hitting series so far with the Kings being an extraodinarily physical team and the Blues having to try to match up against that. So far the teams have yet to lose a game at home so this series may go the full seven games.
In a sign there is still justice in the world the Miami Heat will not be able to make a clean sweep on their way to the NBA finals as the Chicago Bulls were able to win the first game of their NBA Eastern Conference semifinal game against the Heat on Monday. It was nice to be reminded the Heat are not invincible much to the chagrin of most of the people who work at ESPN.
Congratulations to the Kirksville High School girls track team who won the NCMC conference track meet on Monday by twenty points. The KHS boys track team also had several individual winners. Both teams head to districts this Saturday at Mexico. This is supposed to be the toughest district in the state so making it through districts almost ensures a top finish at state. I look for both KHS track teams to do very well on Saturday.
The KHS boys tennis team have done well in district competition so far as they defeated Moberly yesterday.
We’ll be back on Friday with a more thorough bog previewing all this weekend’s sports action. Thanks as always for reading and please check out all the blogs on this site.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
