  • Eleven School of the Osage students were taken to Lake Regional Hospital Wednesday morning as a precaution after a school bus was involved in an accident on Business 54 in Lake Ozark.
The accident was reported around 7:40 a.m. near Paul's Supermarket and Baxter's Restaurant on Bagnell Dam Blvd.
According to school officials, the bus was on its way to the Heritage Building when it was apparently struck by a 2012 Nissan that was rear ended by a 1998 Infinity and pushed into the oncoming lane of traffic. The bus driver and students were taken to hospital for precautionary reasons, and all have been released from hospital.
"We are all very thankful that a potential disastrous situation ended with only minor bumps and bruises," Superintendent Brent Depeé said. "I would like to personally thank Lake Ozark police, Lake Ozark fireman and Lake Regional Staff for their promptness and professionalism."
The driver of the Infinity has been identified as a student at School of the Osage High School. The status of the people in the passenger vehicles is not known at this time. A press release indicated that none of the students on the bus nor the bus driver reported any serious injuries, although the bus was damaged in the wreck and towed from the scene.
Lake Ozark Police and Lake Ozark Fire Protection District along with the Miller County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident.
The accident is still under investigation.
