The same ten or so Luber supporters come to a public meeting. These supporters then parrot Luber’s position in their testimony. Luber then says” The people have spoken.”
Planning and zoning article 600 was tabled on March 28. Prior to the vote, Commissioner Cliff Luber made the following statement:
“Today, we the people of Camden County, have won. The faithful attendance and vigilance of the citizenry have made their wishes known at every planning and zoning meeting and articulately spoke of their specific concerns. They have done their due diligence. Public comment in meetings is not about just citizens speaking before any particular board or commission. It is about them instructing their elected officials how they should proceed.”
This statement is not just outrageous, it is contrived, deceptive, and self-serving. Luber’s tactics are now well known! The same ten or so Luber supporters come to a public meeting. These supporters then parrot Luber’s position in their testimony. Luber then says” The people have spoken.” Whether its FERC, Article 600, or the school district, it’s the same small group of people with the same narrow mindset. The intent is to attack anyone who opposed them and then suppress any reasonable debate. This flagrant obfuscation is one hundred percent Luber. He campaigned on “vote yourself a voice” and operates like Obama…” my way or the highway. For this reason alone, Article 600 should be reopened for discussion.
And, as far as the tabling of Article 600, it does need to be reopened. It was stated that “noise” has not been an issue at the lake. We would suggest that Luber needs to do his homework in his own district. He is wrong saying that “noise” has not been an issue at the lake. We lived in Lynch Cove where Frankie and Louie’s has operated for the last ten years. When they moved in with all of the boats, noise, late night and early morning partying and loud music, the residents of the cove were up in arms. The peacefulness, beauty, and family atmosphere of this cove were destroyed and still is. It is time to bring this article off the table and act. Cliff Luber needs to listen to and represent his constituents. Bev [Thomas] and Kris [Franken] need to stand above this pettiness, and move on to securing best practices for Camden County. And Cliff Luber needs to learn the meaning of “we, the people”, and not I, Cliff Luber!
