The Lake of the Ozarks International Boat Race is now just four weeks away and more details are being announced including how traffic will be routed when Bagnell Dam access is closed.

The race will be held June 6-9 near the dam.

Lake Ozark Police Chief Mark Maples says the tentative plan is to close Bagnell Dam Blvd. from Willmore Lodge on the north side of the dam to Station Drive near Old Time Photos on the south side. Only foot traffic will be allowed between those two locations, and spectators will not be allowed in the area of the cranes on the dam.

Traffic will be shut down a half hour before the races begin until a half our after.

Beavers at the Lake near the dam is the host facility. Major sponsors are Formula Boats and Mtn. Dew.

Between six and eight buses will shuttle people throughout the area. Parking will be available at one or more churches at the top of Bagnell Dam Blvd., and may be available at the School of the Osage Heritage Building, depending on construction progress related to a $22 million renovation.

The Offshore Super Series (OSS), the sanctioning group for the race, will buoy off the perimeter of the actual racecourse, which runs from near Bagnell Dam to midway between Lotell Hollow Cove and Birdsong Hollow Cove. The racecourse is approximately 4.5 miles long.

The Offshore Super Series came to the lake in 2007-09 near the 7-mile marker. The economic downturn and other unforeseen issues forced the OSS to leave the lake until this year.

The Race Pits will be on the docks at Beavers, the Racer Village will be located on the Bagnell Dam Strip, as well as the Vendor Village.
