Victor “Vic” Crabtree, age 82, of Laurie, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Laurie Care Center. He was born February 24, 1931, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
On February 4, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Shirley Anna Price who preceded him in death on April 30, 1991. On June 1, 1992, in Lexington, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Linda Jean Suter, who resides at the home.
Victor was a United States Navy veteran having served his country from 1946 to 1950.
He worked various places throughout the years including Burlington Railroad, Flemmings, Nashua Trailer Manufacturing and retired from Montgomery Ward in 1982.
Victor and Linda have lived in Laurie since July of 1992. There, he was a member of the Gravois Arm Lions Club, the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624, 40 & 8 and I.O.O.F.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by a daughter, Victoria Porter of Kearney, Missouri; a son, Daniel Crabtree of Kansas City, Missouri and his wife, Sandy Crabtree of Mayview, Missouri; a son, Samuel Crabtree of Kearney, Missouri; a daughter, Cheryl Mullins and husband Steve of Odessa, Missouri; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2nd, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with Chaplain Ray Bassett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 3rd, in the Oak Ridge Memory Gardens Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
