  • Alma Knoche McDowell passed away on April 26, 2013, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. Alma was born January 6, 1912, in Bethel, Kansas to Fred And Stella (MacIntyre) Knoche. She grew up on a farm and went to school in the Piper, Kansas area.
    Alma and her husband Clint Mull lived at Osage Beach, Missouri, and enjoyed traveling together.
    After his death she married Elisha McDowell. Alma was an active member of the Harper Chapel Methodist Church in Osage Beach and had worked as a painter at Ozark Wood Craft for 30 years. She made beautiful quilts and crocheted exquisite tablecloths and bedspreads, and hats and bibs for newborns. These items were always available at church bazaars.
    After the death of her husband Elisha, when she was 86 years old, she moved to the Basehor area to be near family. She and the Knoche family traveled together, including a trip to Hawaii, where she wore her first swimming suit and saw the ocean.
    Alma was an only child and had no children of her own. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Stella Knoche; husbands Clint Mull and Elisha McDowell.
    Alma was a loving, generous woman who was dedicated to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
    Services will be held at Alden Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Visitation is at 1:00 pm and funeral services will follow at 2:00. Burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
