Dr. Harold Robert Willis, Jr., 71, of 1329 Shimmer Light Circle, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Washington, DC, Dr. Willis was the son of the late Harold Robert Willis, Sr. and the late Mary Bernice Olenick Willis. Dr. Willis graduated from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in Maplewood, MO in 1959 and the Colorado University School of Medicine in 1968. He worked in emergency medicine in St. Louis and established a family practice at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo until he retired in 2001. He volunteered at Senior Center in Laurie, Mo after his retirement. Dr. Willis also severed in the U. S. Navy and was discharged from the service in San Diego, CA in 1971.
Services for Dr. Willis will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Dale Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Dr. Willis enjoyed fishing, flying, boating and the outdoors. His interests also included World War II history playing the piano and harmonica. Most of all he loved worshipping Jesus, being with his family and his service dog, Wally.
Dr. Willis is survived by his wife, Jane Louise Frick Willis; his son and his family, Steven Bryan Willis and wife, Tracey and children, Zachary, Summer, Bryce, Preston and Collin, from Rock Hill, SC; his son and his family, Christopher David Willis and wife, Leslie and children, Hayden and Harper, from Davidson, NC; his daughter and her family, Kimberly Jane Willis Bullajian and husband, Dikran and children, Emma, Benjamin, and Joshua, from Woodway, TX; his brothers, Richard Willis from Scotland and Joe Robert Willis from Florida; his sister, Carol Lee Willis from Utah; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Frick from California..
Memorials may be made in Dr. Willis name to the Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 300, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
A memorial service in Lake of the Ozarks, MO will be announced at a later date.
