  • One, possibly two new events may be headed to the Westside this summer.
The Dragon's Cup IJSBA (International Jet Sports Boating Association) Watercross Finals will be held Aug. 2-4 at Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar & Resort in Gravois Mills. Coconuts, Premier Vacations and Nauti Water Racing are presenting the national personal watercraft race that will feature riders from around the country. Multiple riders will race in heats on the course just off the beach at Coconuts at the 7 mile marker of the Gravois Arm.
The Shootout Street Party may be on the move from the Lake Ozark Strip to the Hillbilly Fairgrounds for the 2013 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout event. The Street Party is scheduled to be held Wednesday, Aug. 21.
The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the U.S. One of the eight "must see" boating events, according to Powerboat Magazine, the Shootout features boaters in several different categories compete through time trials on a course near Captain Ron's Bar & Grill at the 34 1/2 mile marker.
Since moving its headquarters to Captain Ron's, the Shootout has expanded to include many events throughout the week in addition to the weekend of high speed racing.
The Street Party, held on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark for the last several years, offers a chance for the public to meet racers and get autographs as well as see some of the amazing boats that are used to hit speeds around 200 miles per hour.
