Lake Regional Health System joins hospitals nationwide in celebrating Occupational Therapy month in April.
The theme of this year’s celebration, “Living Life to Its Fullest,” reflects how occupational therapy can improve quality of life and help individuals participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.
“We have a great team that helps people recovering from major surgery, as well as individuals with chronic health conditions,” said Denise Hagemann, OTR/L, director of Occupational Therapy at Lake Regional. “It’s all about helping people get back to doing the things they love.”
Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Lake Regional Occupational Therapy specializes in lymphedema for cancer patients and therapy for patients recovering from stroke.
Lake Regional offers Occupational Therapy services at the hospital in Osage Beach, and at rehab therapy clinics in Camdenton and Eldon. For more information, visit lakeregional.com/RehabTherapy.
