Was a registered nurse for more than 50 years

Patricia “Pat” M. Stewart, resident of Laurie, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.  She was born January 23, 1931, in Dallas, Texas, to Fielding O. R. and Myrtle M. (Trowbridge) Keeney.

A registered nurse for 50 years, she worked in pediatrics, surgery and infection control, but loved the many years she spent working in the public health field in both Jackson County and Morgan County, Missouri.

A graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Pat married Billy J. Stewart on April 30, 1954.  She was a longtime resident of the Kansas City area and retired to Laurie, Missouri with Bill in 1992.

Besides her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Arlene Stewart of Jefferson City, Missouri; three grandsons, Kyle, Gary and Brad Stewart; niece, Nancy Heller; nephew, Jim Stewart and many friends.

Family and friends will miss her sense of humor, quick wit and kindness.  Pat was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Laurie and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 18th, at 10:00 a.m., at the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie with Reverend Gary Hagan officiating.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time at 10:00 a.m., at the church.  A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association or to an organization of the donor’s choice.  Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.  Cremation and arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
