Lake Regional Health System honored and recognized the contributions of hospital volunteers at the Auxiliary’s annual luncheon, held April 8.
“From the beginning, volunteers have played an important role in this hospital,” said Michael E. Henze, chief executive officer of Lake Regional Health System. “Our staff and patients benefit daily from the support of this caring group of dedicated individuals.”
At the luncheon, 178 volunteers were recognized for contributing a total of more than 68,000 service hours to the hospital. Top honors went to Bea Roggy of Camdenton for 8,000 service hours, Jeannine Davenport of Lake Ozark for 5,000 service hours and Martha Frazier of Osage Beach for 5,000 service hours. Lifetime Achievement awards were given to 19 volunteers and Auxiliary members.
“Volunteering is more than personally rewarding,” said Terri Hall, director of Fund Development and Volunteer Services at Lake Regional. “It’s giving back to the community and helping others in need.”
During the luncheon, Auxiliary President Jane Delaney presented a check for $150,000 to Lake Regional CEO Michael E. Henze and COO Vicki Franklin on behalf of the Auxiliary.
Delaney also presented a $2,000 check for Lake Regional Cancer Center, the proceeds from the Auxiliary’s nine-month cancer awareness campaign. The campaign included selling cancer items in the gift shop, and a quilt raffle.
Started in 1977, the Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary now has more than 500 enthusiastic members of all ages who contribute more than 68,000 hours of service annually.
Lake Regional’s volunteers are a diverse group comprised of housewives, retirees, doctors, active businessmen and others.
Each volunteer participates in a variety of activities that fit their own special talents and interests, including staffing the information desks, Wish-U-Well gift shops and Xpressions of Flavor coffee shops at Lake Regional Hospital.
They also assist staff with community events and host the Auxiliary’s hospital ball, held each fall.
