Residents of Wellington Woods subdivision on Chelsie Rd. are seeking to have their streets dedicated to the City of Laurie, but test boring to verify that the roadways meet code requirements has not been done. The board of aldermen was asked by residents in March to pay for the testing due to financial difficulties of the developer.
City attorney Steve Grantham reported to the board of aldermen April 10 that the procedure for accepting streets is outlined in city ordinance. It states that testing must be done by the party seeking to turn over the street to the city, he said. "It (testing) has not been done so the city has no reason to accept the street and I'd advise you not to accept it unless the ordinance is followed," Grantham said.
The board took the advice with no comment and made no further offer of help. Resident Mike Horgan said the group of homeowners has no plans to pursue anything further due to lack of funds.
