  • A fatal fire in Miller County April 8 is believed to have been started by the victim, according to the Miller County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators with the sheriff's office believe 23-year-old Brent Comer got caught in a fire that he started while burglarizing the residence. Autopsy results indicate Comer's death was due to smoke inhalation.
Comer's body was found in a home on Eldon Rd. late Monday night. Firefighters discovered Comer's body on April 8, when they responded to a structure fire call around 9:30 p.m.
The house, located just outside the Eldon city limits in the Moreau Fire Protection District, was a rental that had been vacant for several months.
Comer's car with his driver's license inside was parked near where the fire is believed to have started. A gas can was reportedly found in the house near a stove and within close proximity to where the body was found.
According to Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott, the investigation into Comer's death is complete.
Abbott said investigators believe Comer was acting alone.
