  • In a tough and physical matchup, the two teams fought for ball control in a defensive struggle in Thursday night's match between the Osage Lady Indians and Bolivar.
Despite being able to work the ball down the field, the Lady Indians could not find a way to get the ball in the net, with several shots missing by inches or being stopped by the talented defense of Bolivar.
Osage's defense stood their ground, and after two halves, the score still remained at 0-0. In overtime, both teams had opportunities to score, but once again, the defenses made a stand.
It all came down to penalty kicking to decide the outcome of the two evenly-matched teams, and with three shots made by the Indians, and stellar play in the net by Vanessa Webber, who only allowed one goal scored, the Indians emerged the winners, continuing their undefeated season after a double overtime victory.
On Friday night, the team took on Belle, and soundly shut out their opponents with a 6-0 win. Josie Verslues led the team once again with three goals, with Monica Cisar, Alexa Pittenger, and Cassidy Culver all chipping in for a goal apiece. Culver, Verslues and Dee Lewin all had an assist on the night, while Vanessa Webber put up another great effort with two saves for the Indians.
With a 7-0 record, the Indians remain undefeated, and the team is now ranked number 15 in the state in Class 1.
