An investigation into the death of a Miller County man after a fatal fire on Monday night is expected to be wrapped up by the end of the week.
The body of 23-year-old Brent Comer was found in a home on Eldon Road late Monday night. Firefighters discovered Comer's body on Monday evening when they responded to a structure fire call around 9:30 p.m. The house, located just outside the Eldon city limits in the Moreau Fire Protection District, was a rental that had been vacant for several months.
Comer's car with his driver's license inside was parked near where the fire is believed to have started. The fire protection district declined to comment on the cause of the fire and referred questions to other agencies.
So far, there has been no information released to indicate what had brought Comer to the house.
Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott said an autopsy had been completed. All that he could release was that Comer's lungs were "full of smoke."
Abbott indicated there were one or two more individuals the sheriff's department planned on interviewing before finalizing the investigation.
Abbott said there was nothing suspicious about the death.
"We treat it as a crime, like all deaths," he said.
