There's an old saying about there being no rest for the wicked. Maybe the Camdenton Lady Lakers are not wicked, but their schedule so far has been, with the team playing three games, with one  or two wins and a loss (es) this past week.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Lakers hit the road to visit Springfield and challenge the Hillcrest Hornets in what would become a milestone moment for the Lady Lakers.

In their 10-0 win over the Hornets, eight different players scored a goal, while senior forward Miriam Taylor finished the night with two assists, making her the owner of the top career assist leader for Camdenton with 45.

Taylor also scored two goals on the night, which gives her eleven on the season, making her the only Lady Laker to score 10 goals or more in a season for four consecutive years.

The two Henry sisters, Morgan and Madison, both scored on the night as the Lady Lakers once again dominated a game with a 9-0 lead in the first twenty minutes, and once again, senior Megan Weber scored yet another goal in the first thirty seconds of the second half, the second time she has done it this season to end the match.

With a thorough dismantling of the Hillcrest defense, the Lady Lakers returned home for a match against the talented Nixa Eagles on Thursday night.

In a match-up between two powerhouse teams, it quickly became clear that both teams were evenly matched. After almost thirty minutes of play, Camdenton would take a 1-0 lead after Miriam Taylor out-maneuvered the goalie to score.

Bailey Pesek of Nixa would answer after five minutes to tie things up at one before the half.

The two teams would battle for the remainder of the game, vying for the lead, but never finding the goal. Camdenton struggled to widen the field and open up their offense, but the ball spent the majority of the time threatening Camdenton's net.

To the credit of the defense, and freshman goalkeeper Hanna Lowther, the team didn't allow Nixa to score at all in the second half. Unfortunately for Camdenton, the Lakers were also unable to find the net, and the game went into overtime.

In overtime, the game is decided by sudden death, meaning the first goal scored decides the outcome of the game.

But a Camdenton win was not meant to be, as once again, Pesek sent another shot soaring in from 15 yards out, past Lowther's outstretched arm for the win.

The team would return to the road on Friday night for a match against the Glendale Falcons. The Falcons quickly went to work, scoring three unanswered goals before Megan Weber would drive up the middle to score. Camdenton trailed 3-1 at the end of the first half.

Despite a resurgence by the Lady Lakers in the second half, Glendale’s defense held firm, allowing just one more goal in the game while tacking on another three to win 6-2.

The Lady Lakers are now 4-4 on the season.
