  • Either the folks of Lake Ozark are attempting to rewrite the constitution of these United States or they see themselves as simply above the laws set out in the constitution of the United States of America. In either case they are attempting to violate the first amendment, ignore the laws of this country and are exemplifying the ignorance of common sense which seems continually pervasive in  the city government of Lake Ozark.
All of this from a majority of local Republicans, Tea Party members and so-called "Conservatives" sitting on the City Board of Lake Ozark. These very same folks that shout to anyone who will listen, "Government is taking away American rights and too involved in our lives!"
Lake Ozark's city-run government has continually been an embarrassment to their residents, to the lake area, the county and now the entire state of Missouri. With this recent attempt to outlaw "Cursing, arguing, raising one's voice, causing annoyance, blocking someone's path, insults, taunts, vulgar language, profane language, abusive language, speaking up at public meetings, disturbing any individual person's peace in a public space and giving the finger", Lake Ozark is attempting to censor an entire city with this unconstitutional ordinance.
This latest (in a long list of embarrassments) begs the question, has anyone on Lake Ozark's city board a clue as to what they are doing?
Besides the obvious illegality of this totally impotent city ordinance, who exactly are to be Lake Ozark's morality judges?
Who gets to decide what exactly constitutes vulgar, profane or abusive language?
What will be judged by this panel of Puritans to be disturbing, incitement to violence, alarming, annoying, insulting, challenging, taunting, gesturing and thereby subject the offender's in their eyes to arrest?
Does Lake Ozark require Carte Blanche to arrest anyone they please on "Trumped up" charges in order to keep the peace in their little city?
This ordinance will not stand up in any court of law.
Anyone arrested under this city ordinance will be found not guilty and will (if they are smart) sue the city of Lake Ozark for their trouble.
This ordinance would be impossible to enforce, un prosecutable, unjust, unwise and uncontainable.
How many times must the ACLU come to the lake and teach folks on local lake area school boards or city governments that you cannot disregard the Constitution of the United States of America before someone starts to get the message?
This attempt at censorship by a group of folks who should know better is simply disgraceful.
I say that cussing is a great release when other words in the English vocabulary simply won't do to express the level of emotions in some circumstances.
Page 2 of 2 - I say that giving the finger is a right guaranteed under the first amendment to the constitution by our insightful forefathers.
Although I never knew them personally, I would wager they would have saluted with their middle finger (had it been the custom) when their buggies were cut off by some other thoughtless traveler.
Lake Ozark board: you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves for this affront to the freedom of speech guaranteed every American (including tourists and residents of Lake Ozark) under the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
