  • As you head to the polls on Tuesday, there are a few things to keep in mind. Traditionally, voter turn-out during an April election is low. Even though the lake area has a few controversial and news-making topics on the ballot, area county clerks expects that trend to continue.
Polls open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 7 p.m. Voters are reminded to bring their voter identification card with them to the polls. If voters cannot vote on Tuesday, they have until 5 p.m. Monday to vote absentee at they county clerks office.

    Frequently Asked Questions
    When are polling places open?

Polling places open at 6 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Those individuals arriving after the polling place has closed will not be allowed to vote. However, those individuals in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

I will be out of town on Election Day. How will I vote?

Registered Missourians who expect to be prevented from going to their polling place on Election Day may vote absentee beginning six weeks prior to an election. Voters must provide a valid reason.
Voters can request absentee ballots from their local election authority in person until 5 p.m. on the day prior to the election.

What happens if I go to my polling place on Election Day and my name is not in the poll book?

If your name does not appear on the poll book and you are eligible to vote at that precinct, you may be entitled to vote a provisional ballot. Every effort will be made to determine your eligibility and your correct polling place so that you can cast a regular ballot. If it can be determined that you are at the wrong polling place, you will be directed to the correct or central polling place to cast a regular ballot. Casting a ballot at the wrong polling place will result in the disqualification of your ballot.
