Lake Media and the Community Foundation of the Lake have partnered for the third year to hold an online auction benefitting a number of local non-profits who courageously serve our Lake community through charitable work.
The online auction at www.shopthelake.com will run April 8-19. Numerous items available include donated gift certificates from local restaurants, resorts, salons and others generous businesses.
The Community Foundation of the Lake was organized in 2008 and is one of 44 affiliated of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The Community Foundation of the Lake has a nine-member volunteer board of local leaders including: Marvin Silliman, Trenny Garrett, Lynn Griswold, Melissa Carroll, Tony Reahr, Steve Naught, Mac McNally, Mitchell Mills and Janice Gentile. The mission of the Community Foundation is to assist in building the educational, cultural, health, and economic development of our community.
The Community Foundation is a growing resource to receive and grant local community funds donated by families, individuals and corporations. Donations may be in any amount, unrestricted to benefit any community need or restricted by donor designation and used for a specific program or purpose as the donor identifies. All Community Foundation funds stay in the Lake area where they benefit many organizations meeting a broad range of local community needs. To date, the CFL has awarded more than $50,000 to local non-profit organizations and plans to present 2013 grants at the Annual Lake of the Ozarks CVB Dinner on March 28 at Tan-Tar-a Resort.
