*Editor’s Note: This opinion is in response to a Lake view titled “Plagiarism not ‘unintended’” by Keith Broekemeier, published in the Wednesday, March 27 edition of the Lake Sun.
As the President of LACC I felt I needed to respond to Keith Broeckemeier's letter.
Darin Keim is a member of Lake Area Conservative Club. It is his choice to be a member.
When a member chooses to run for office, we encourage them in their endeavor.
It is not any different than any other member organization.
What we don't do is micromanage as Mr. Broekemeier suggests.
As of yet, I have never had a conversation with [Mr. Broekemeier], though he acts like he has vast knowledge of our group.
He does not know nor comprehend the concept of what conservative stands for.
He treats it like a dirty word.
LACC on the other hand has taken the time to get to know Mr. Keim.
We have taken the opportunity to have real conversation with him, and with his wife.
Has Mr. Broekemeier done that?
Or has he labeled this man, and in his own version of racism, called him a conservative, as if it is a crime?
If it’s a crime to be conservative then I guess I am guilty too.
I am guilty of asking our local, county, state, and federal representatives to act in a conservative manner with the tax money they receive.
I am guilty of wanting to preserve families as God intended.
I am guilty of believing that the constitution is still the law of this land and we should all be actively protecting our constitution from those who would try to take our rights away.
When Mr. Broekemeier goes after Lake Area Conservative Club, what he is really doing is going against all the like minded people who think like I do.
He claims we have an agenda.
I will let him in on a little secret: This is the agenda of a conservative.
•Be fiscally responsible with tax dollars.
•The constitution is meant for every man, woman and child. Protect it.
•Transparency isn't a dirty word, but a resource, that can be beneficial.
I'm positive that Mr. Keim can be a member of the school board, act in a conservative manner, and Camdenton R-III will reap the benefit.
