Now we as a community are being called on again regarding the children at Mills Elementary. We expect a lot from our children. We expect a lot from our educators.
I would like to take a moment to thank our wonderful community here at Lake of the Ozarks. Having resided in several states prior to this one I can attest to the wonderful character, compassion and generosity of lake area residents. I have seen the outpouring of support when it comes to charitable causes and tragic loses.
Now we as a community are being called on again regarding the children at Mills Elementary. We expect a lot from our children. We expect a lot from our educators. How can we hold them accountable if we don’t give them an environment that allows them to meet those expectations?
Children cannot be expected to concentrate to the best of their ability when they are testing in hallways due to overcrowding. Educators cannot be expected to keep our children safe when they have to conduct outdoor recess in the front entrance to the school. We have the ability to change that. We have the responsibility to change that regardless of whether you have children or grandchildren in this district or not. They belong to our community. They belong to your neighbors and fellow parishioners and friends.
I open car doors every school morning at Mills Elementary. I see the traffic congestion. I see children and buses and cars. I see opportunity for improvement. This is a responsible school board. This is a responsible administration. They would not be asking this of us if it were not the best, most cost effective solution. So on April 2 Vote Yes for The School of the Osage Bond Initiative and become part of the solution.
