The King’s Academy of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Lake Ozark, has expanded its education outreach to the community by adding first and second grades to its preschool and kindergarten. Members of the Congregation voted recently in favor of the addition effective in the Fall, 2013. Enrollment for the 2013-14 school year is now open.
The Academy exists to provide a Christ-centered education in a safe and loving environment, partnering with parents to develop children to become spiritually, academically and physically confident.
“It is an exciting time to be able to offer these classes at Christ the King, and to serve our community. It is truly a blessing to teach and share the love of Jesus with the children who come to us,” said Rayleen Platter, director of the Board of Education.
The school has a dedicated staff that includes a director, five teachers with bachelor of science or master’s degrees in education, four aides and a food service employee. The Academy also offers hot lunches, playground facilities, a security system, and a Before and After-Care Program. Special classes include music, art and physical education. A scholarship program is available for those who are interested. Elaine Lehenbauer serves as director of The King’s Academy.
Two days each week students attend chapel led by the Rev. Ron Lehenbauer, pastor of Christ the King, or the Rev. Kristopher Morris, associate pastor. Activities and songs often reflect lessons from familiar Bible stories.
Christ the King began its education program in 2003 with 16 students at King’s Kids Preschool. A new education wing was dedicated in 2006 with three half-day preschool classes for three and four-year-olds. Today 50 young students are enrolled in four half day and full-day preschool classrooms, and kindergarten.
