Shelby Thomas, of Camdenton, was recently nominated for the MU Nursing Alumni Organization’s DNP Student Award for Overall Excellence from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing. The award recognizes academic excellence and professional commitment.
Thomas is a student in the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program studying to become a Family Nurse Practitioner with a secondary emphasis in nursing education. She is an instructor of nursing science at Lincoln University. A 1993 graduate of Camdenton R-III, she is the daughter of Debbie Butcher and Tom Rohde.
“Being nominated for this award is an incredible honor,” Thomas said. “The University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing has provided me the opportunity to earn a world-class education, a journey that I have been honored to travel. This nomination is a testament from those who are intimately involved in our sacrifice and diligence.”
Thomas is one of three students nominated for the award. The award recipient will be announced April 5 at the school’s 23rd Annual Nursing Banquet and Awards Ceremony.
