After a decade of service on the Sunrise Beach Board of Trustees, Ken Gerardy participated in his last meeting Monday evening.
The board presented Gerardy with a plaque of appreciation March 11.
"It's been a really good experience," he commented. "I think we've done a lot of good work."
Gerardy joined the board in 2003.
With a masters degree in economics, Gerardy is retired from government work in St. Louis and Kansas City.
In their retirement, he and wife Carol moved to Sunrise Beach, and he began exploring art, a longtime enjoyment that he'd never had time to pursue before.
Gerardy paints and sculpts images of nature and wildlife and says he hopes to have more time for art work with this "other" retirement from the board of trustees.
He is a member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the Lake Arts Council.
Gerardy is also active at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach.
Only three candidates signed up to run for the three seats on the board of trustees up for election April 2.
Larry O'Dell will fill the position left open by Gerardy. O'Dell has been serving on the village's planning commission.
He will be sworn into office April 8 along with incumbents Curt Mooney and Debby Stoller.
