  • The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract for repair of the Osage River Bridge on westbound Highway 54.
APAC will repair the bridge near Lake Ozark at an estimated cost of $834,561. Only the westbound lanes are included in this contract.
MoDOT officials said crews this week were revamping the drainage system along the perimeters of the driving lanes. The existing weep holes are being plugged and will be replaced with fiberglass drains through the bridge deck.
Starting next week, workers will use a hydro-demolition process to remove about three-quarters of an inch of the existing bridge deck, followed by a concrete overlay.
The overlay will leave about an inch lip on each end of the bridge which will require an asphalt wedge approach.
Also planned is painting of steel girders under the bridge deck and sealing of concrete overhangs to protect the concrete from chemical and weather damage.
All of the work should be done by Memorial Day.
