  • What's going on?
The Laurie Police Department now has a vehicle that can respond under almost any conditions. On Wednesday, March 6, the LPD received a Hummer with trailer as surplus from the Department of Defense. The board of aldermen accepted the offer of the free vehicle at a recent board meeting.
    Why it's important?
The vehicle can go where other department vehicles can't and will be used to respond during emergencies and natural disasters such as severe snow storms when even the department's four wheel drive pickup truck has gotten stuck.
    What's next?
The Hummer will get a light bar and be painted and marked as a police vehicle as the city budget or donations allow.
