State Treasurer Clint Zweifel announced he has returned more than $1.4 million to five account owners since the beginning of January. Treasurer Zweifel currently holds nearly $700 million in Unclaimed Property for more than 4.3 million account owners, including 64 accounts with $100,000 or more. Since January 2009, Treasurer Zweifel has returned more than $140 million to more than 450,000 account owners.
“I receive new Unclaimed Property every week, and every week my team helps file hundreds of claims to return this property to the individuals who own it,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “Individuals should not wait to receive a postcard or a call from my office. You can register for email alerts when new information is added or even email search results to friends.”
Sixty-four accounts worth more than $100,000 each remain to be returned.
Three accounts are located in Camden County. The other outstanding accounts were mainly located in St. Louis and Kansas City.
