The power went off to a portion of Sunrise Beach Tuesday afternoon, March 5, after a delivery mishap at 1522 Hwy. 5.
According to Sunrise Beach Police Chief Dave Slavens, a semi-truck and trailer pulled into the home located up the hill from the Flickerin' Flea Market to make a delivery at the house when it accidentally caught a power line and pulled it out. The accident also broke the pole and transformer, he said.
Sunrise Beach police and fire departments responded to the scene of the live wire across the ground and highway. As emergency crews conducted traffic control, Co-Mo cut off power. Linemen were installing a new pole and transformer around 4 p.m.
