  • With more than a foot of snow in parts of the lake area, many are wondering how that will affect the drought brought on by a dry summer.
"It will help some," Agronomous Dr. Ed Brown of MU Extension of Miller County said. "It certainly is not going to solve our drought problems since it is a limited amount of moisture."
Brown did say that when the snow melts and soaks into the soil, it will help with drought recovery but will not be enough to solve the problem.
Brown is hoping for a wet spring and summer.
When asked what he predicts for the spring and summer, he said that would be hard to say. According to some MU predictions, Missouri may be in for another dry year.
More snow is in the forecast through Friday and early next week.
