  • What it is
The Village of Sunrise Beach is working to bring sewer service to the Hwy. 5 corridor in town. The proposed project will provide wastewater treatment along the highway from Lake Rd. 5-39 to the Hurricane Deck Bridge. A pressurized main line will carry sewage to an extended aeration treatment plant located near Captain Ron's Bar & Grill. An older treatment plant at the site will be removed for the new facility designed to meet environmental requirements from DNR to discharge into a nearby losing stream.

    What's new
The Village of Sunrise Beach took another step forward on its sewer project after the Missouri Department of Natural Resources approved its facility plan in January. The design plan was submitted Aug. 7 by project engineer Schultz Surveying & Engineering. Seven clearance requests from state and federal agencies — outside of DNR, which does the actual licensing — have also been acquired.

    What's next
DNR is now studying the sewer's line plan. Village officials are hoping to get approval of the overall design and get a permit in time to let construction bids in March. Easements for the project are 90 percent complete. The village needed at least 80 percent to start construction.
