Secretary of State Jason Kander today announced the Camden County Library District received an eReader Exploration Grant for $1,627.
The library will use the funds to purchase eReader devices and provide training to staff, volunteers and patrons in a hands-on experience. This will allow the library to expand both the quality and availability of library services.
“These eReader grants are an investment in the future of our communities and our children,” Kander said. “We are fortunate to have such a strong network of public libraries throughout the state, and I am pleased to assist in their continued growth.”
The Secretary of State’s eReader exploration grants are funded by the Library Services & Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
In the 2013 Fiscal Year, the Missouri State Library has approved a total of 94 grant applications, distributing $558,873 in federal awards to libraries throughout Missouri.
