Served in the U.S. Navy

Duane G. Soiland, 74, of Gravois Mills, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Duane was born in Glendive, Montana, the son of the late Ivan and Elna Lorene Knapp Soiland.

Duane proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed onboard the USS Bexar APA 237 in Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. He was in Retail Management with FW Woolworth/Woolco for over 20 years before starting his own business, which he sold prior to his retirement. In his spare time Duane enjoyed horseback riding, family, boating, football (Denver Broncos), camping, woodworking and home remodeling. He was a very loving and devoted husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of over 37 years, Mary; his children, Michael and his wife, Kathryn of Richmond, Virginia, Mark and his wife, Lisa of Purcellville, Virginia, Mitchell of Crested Butte, Colorado, Shelly Stucker of Columbia, Missouri and Sherry Bridges and her husband, Daniel of Cumming, Georgia; his grandchildren, Michael Soiland, Travis Hedrick, Autumn Brandenberger, Nathan Soiland, Nicole Soiland, Meredith Soiland, Daniel Soiland, Mathew Soiland, Kristina Soiland and Daniel Bridges; and his great-grandchildren, Zoeie Hedrick and Roman Hedrick.

He was preceded in death by siblings, James Ivan and Jeanie.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Duane G. Soiland will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.
