Throughout the week of Jan. 20-26, Lake Regional Medical Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, joins health care providers nationwide in observing National Medical Group Practice Week.
This annual celebration is intended to advance public and industry awareness of the key benefits group practices provide to patients, communities and health care providers, and to recognize the professionals who lead and manage these organizations.
“Medical group practices are assets to communities,” said Peter Rao, executive director of Lake Regional Medical Group. “This week allows us to highlight Lake Regional’s contributions to the lake area and to reflect on our commitment to provide exceptional health care to residents and visitors.”
During the past year, Lake Regional’s clinics completed the transition from paper to electronic health records — a significant milestone that is a part of a national trend in meeting federal guidelines. Electronic health records also enhance patient care.
“Replacing paper records with an electronic system improves patient safety by offering providers real-time access to important information,” Rao said. “As the nation faces significant changes in its health care system, Lake Regional Medical Group continues to adapt with a focus on providing quality patient care using a team-centered approach.”
In addition, LRMG launched a secure patient portal in 2012. Using the portal, patients can request and keep track of appointments; update personal information; send messages to the clinic; receive educational information about and treatment options for their medical condition; receive health maintenance reminders; and view and print current and past statements.
Currently, 47 physicians, eight nurse practitioners, six pharmacists and more than 120 staff care for patients at Lake Regional’s seven primary care clinics, 18 specialty clinics, urgent care clinic and three retail pharmacies. For more information, visit lakeregional.com.
