  • Lake West Christian Academy in Sunrise Beach is participating in National School Choice Week Sunday, Jan. 27-Saturday, Feb. 2. The week is planned by a bipartisan coalition of individuals, schools and organizations to celebrate all forms of educational choice, including high-performing public schools, public charter schools, Christian schools, private schools, magnet schools, home schooling, and virtual schools. National School Choice Week 2013 will feature more than 3,500 events across all 50 states.
    National School Choice Week educational events are scheduled every day in different locations around the Lake of the Ozarks.
    Coffee House Discussions are scheduled 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Omega Coffee Shop in Laurie, Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the Camden County Library in Camdenton, Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Paint Box CafÈ in Osage Beach and Friday, Feb. 1 at the Morgan County Library in Versailles.
    The public is invited to tour the school during an open house from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.
    Parents, teachers, students and community leaders will gather for a National School Choice Rally in support of effective education options for all children at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Lake West Christian Academy in Sunrise Beach.
    The Lake West Christian Academy was founded in 2001 to give parents the choice to have their K-4 through 12th grade students trained academically, spiritually, physically, and socially in a Christ-honoring manner. The curriculum is structured in biblical context emphasizing high academic standards with a strong emphasis in language arts, reading, math, patriotism, and self-discipline.
