The Camdenton 7th grade boys’ basketball team won the El Dorado Springs Tournament last week by defeating Warsaw 60-29 in the opening round and the host team El Dorado Springs 51-21 in the second round before coming from behind – down 10-1 to start the game – and beating Nevada 55-49 in the championship. With the tournament win, the Lakers improved their record to 7-5.
The 7th grade Lakers basketball team handed School of the Osage’s 7th grade basketball team their first loss of the season on Monday night winning 32-29. The Lakers jumped out to an early 10-2 lead before falling behind early in the fourth quarter 23-22. The game then went back-and-forth and the lead changed hands eight times before clutch free throws and stingy defense saw the Lakers come away with the victory. The Lakers had lost to School of the Osage 45-29 earlier in the season. With a four game winning streak, the Camdenton Lakers 7th grade basketball team has improved to 8-5 on the season.
The Macks Creek girls’ basketball team is continuing winning ways this season, defeating Lakeland on Saturday, Jan. 5 to improve their record to 7-5. Sydnee Daugherty finished the game with 18 points, followed by Allisyn Carnahan with 14 as the Lady Pirates beat Lakeland 61-42.
The Camdenton Lady Lakers fell to the West Plains Zizzers in a 64-38 road game.
The Osage girls’ varsity lost to Hallsville 34-29.
The Macks Creek boy’s basketball team sent Stockton packing after a 68-53 win. Cody Eidson dropped an eye-popping 34 points in the game, followed by Austin Mitchell, who finished the game with 17 points. The team is now 9-3 after their win.
The Lady Tigers traveled to Iberia tonight for a rematch against their first round Stover Tournament opponent. Despite leading in the first three quarters, the Lady Tigers could not hold on to their lead in the fourth and halt the Iberia comeback. The Lady Tigers fell in a high scoring 75-74 loss, as Iberia scored 24 points in the last quarter to win.
Versailles’ Madisen Sherman put up 33 points against Iberia in their last match, and continued her streak, scoring 28 points in their Monday night meeting. Akrista Greer notched four threes on her belt, finishing the night with 20 points.
