  • A temporary boil water advisory in Laurie has been lifted.
On Thursday, Jan. 3, results from a water sample taken after a water line break Sunday came back clean, showing the water is safe to drink, according to Laurie Public Works Director Ed Young.
The break occurred Sunday morning from what appeared to be a failed fitting - a six-inch 90-degree elbow - between Hwy. O and Forest Rd. on Hibdon Rd., Young said.
The leak was draining water out of the system faster than pumps could put water back in the system, he said, so the public works crew was called in around noon Dec. 30.
Water was shut off to users south of the Hwy. 5 and Hwy. O intersection around 2:30 p.m. After repairs, service was back up for the area around 10 p.m., according to Young.
