State and county roads around the lake area are snow covered this morning, and officials are advising caution to drivers.
Everything is pretty much snow-packed, according to Morgan County Western District Commissioner Wayne Kroeschen.
With snow falling quickly in a one to two hour period, crews have not had a chance to clear most roadways yet.
Kroeschen estimated that gravels roads are covered with a couple of inches of snow. The county will not do anything with them until there's at least four inches, he said.
Crews are blading asphalt roads in Morgan County and are putting down salt and cinders on corners and hills.
The road report in Camden County is similar. The Road & Bridge Department reported that all trucks are running on all routes to try to clear roadways as fast as possible.
Officials with both counties advised drivers to take it slow if they must be out.
Several accidents have been reported in the area this morning and continue to occur as snow falls quickly and builds up fast.
Hwy. 5 was closed in Gravois Mills for a short period of time this morning while emergency crews cleared an accident at Valley Rd. The highway was reopened shortly before 9:30 a.m.
