  • Troop Appreciation event honors armed services soldiers

  • Families and friends gathered in Osage Beach to honor nearly 200 members of the armed services on Troop Appreciation Day Saturday, Dec. 22.

  • Families and friends gathered in Osage Beach to honor nearly 200 members of the armed services on Troop Appreciation Day Saturday, Dec. 22.
    Among the individuals honoring loved ones, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer and wife Jackie, retired Gen. John Seward and wife Lisa and national award-winning Jackie Newton, who performs acts as Sparky the Clown, attended the event.
    Entertainment was supplied by Sparky the Clown, Phat Mike and the Bartenders' Jason and Wayne, and Ed and The Struggling Blues Band. Among the entertainment venues, organizations and companies such as The Ladies Auxiliary, Jane Martin and the crew at Scott's Concrete and Bud Simmons and crew at Mariners Pier 31, provided gifts to children.
    In addition to gifts and live entertainment, the event began with a boat ride for all troops and family members on Tom and Dick Otke’s Celebration Boat.
    The event concluded at the Inn at Grand Glaize where troops and family members with room accommodations for the evening, thanks to donors. Martin and Simmons’ crew provided individuals with a great meal and “hero awards.
